02.25.08 | Thanks for all the Support!!!
Well, here we are after a week of sensational gigs…

After beginning the week at Rockit Room with Marc DiGiacomo, where it seemed he and I split most of the evening playing nearly everything we know, I found myself in Berkeley at the Freight and Salvage for my good bud Andy Mason’s feature. I seemed to have misplaced my ticket to the Freight and Salvage earlier that evening, but was fortunate to have purchased the ticket from my other good bud, Jonah. So, I slid right in to find the opening slot available….lucky me!! I’ve never been shy about opening the show and it turned out to be a fun-filled evening, with both Mike Chase and myself accompanying Andy Mason on the final two songs of his feature!! It was really great.

For Wednesday, I found myself back in Berkeley for GG Tanaka’s open-mic at Becketts Pub. We were joined by all of the usual suspects and brought quite a variety of music for all to hear. If you get a chance, come check it out sometime. (Becketts open-mic happens on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month).

On Thursday, I opened the evening solo at Speisekammer in Alameda. It is a fine German restaurant with a wonderful staff and a wide variety of beers to suit the pallet. My set lasted about 45 minutes and it felt great to intrigue so many patrons, not only with my music, but also with a bit of personal history that seemed to relate well with everyone there.

I have taken great measures to fulfill this life and I feel very lucky that my life seems to translate so readily with so many people. I really appreciate all the interest from all those who have taken the time to come out an support local musicians….

Special thanks go out to:
Bridget Canfield for all her dedication, Mei-Ling for never giving up, Andy Mason, Paul and Michelle Manousos, Scarth Locke, Marc DiGiacomo, Mike Chase, Will McCaughtry, Mike Saunders, Dan McCormack, Shaan Tolani, JJ Schultz, Natalie, Susan, Jonah, Jim Varney, Andrei Smyk, Ray and Nada Carruthers, Leslie Rafferty, JC Tourbillion, Courtney Nicole, Mark, to all the friendly staff at Becketts, Speisekammer, Rockit Room, and especially to my boys in the band (GG Tanaka, Dave “Diesel” Gursom, and Shane Crosby) for keeping the dream alive….

You all make such a difference in the world, it is my utmost pleasure to be here, and to be a part of it all….

All the best,
T-

PS - 200pockets.com is keeping my photo journal well updated, and you should check out the new batch of photos from these recent shows.

Our very own Todd Shipley Band stepped on stage around 11 and pushed that rock on over the hill. All the fellas in this band make it worth your while because they take the time to enjoy what they do...
Thanks Diesel, Shane, and GG

One more note:

Special thanks to the folks at Beckett's and McGee's, two of my favorite pubs, Andy Mason, Mei-Ling, Stu, Saunders, Seth, Danielle, Ronnie, Paul Manousos, Eric, Autumn, Morgan, Gina, Mark, and Tanya...

11.22.07 | Remembering Last Sunday's Gig...‏
I must say, our gig at Irelands 32 came off really well. The atmosphere has changed somewhat since Brenden passed, but it seems to be trying to maintain its presence. Any players should keep in mind that the vibe we create and the character we represent, play an essential role in what the venue hopes to project. Sometimes we get lucky and sometimes we feel like we're just practicing for the crowd. There's no up without down....

All our players received a great response, and our gander of friends and fans always make themselves known...

My thanks go out to:
Karl Neilson, Mike Saunders, Karl, Miriam, Sally, Gary, and Dottie.
Mary and Alex, for all the spirits from behind the bar...

The players:
Andy Mason, Leslie Rafferty, Courtney Nicole, and Rich Hubbard, for sharing their talents and inspiration with us.

To my brothers in arms:
Shane Crosby, GG Tanaka (for his improve solo set, and absolute tirelessness...), and lastly, to Dave "Diesel" Gursom, for gathering the troops and being relaxed and patient, never to loose site...

Thanks to The 68's for closing the night... great job fellas...

All the best and Happy Thanksgiving........I'm crazy about all of you.....

10.28.07 | Beale St Bash!!‏
Well, it was quite a wild night at the Beale St. Bar and Grill this past Wednesday...

Unfortunately, it was a rather slow night for attendance, but to justify, I realize many people had unforeseen events that kept them away. And by Wednesday, it had already become somewhat of a long week for many of us, my band included...

As a wonderful coincidence, I received many emails of support both before and after the event from our friends and fans, who expressed their continued support....
I thank you all for your efforts...

Of note to those in attendance: Tony, for the space to unwind, Mei-Ling, for her unwavering commitment, Andy Mason, Michael Loebs, Herb Garfield, Miriam, Courtney, Leslie, Mel and Rob, Chris and his crew...

To the bands:

Thanks to the Fancy Dan Band, jumping in last minute and throwing down a driving set!!!!

Not an Airplane, for greasing the wheels and pushing the vibe!!!
and to my band for claiming their territory onstage with this "wily child", you guys really pull it together!!

07.14.07 | The Hotel Utah
You know, I figured it out by the third song - I'm quick you know. Once Todd Shipley started playing "Jackie you, Jackie me", and I realized something was up - everything before that could be explained as a coincidence or a series of coincidences, but once Shipley sang "finding the time to write..." - well, let's just say I had a bit of a "Sally Field at the 84 oscars" moment in my brain... I just want to thank everybody involved - it was a really special night for me and it meant a lot. I especially want to call out Mr. Michael Loebs - because, even though he denies it, I believe this to be his brainchild. ...man, it's unique and wonderful feeling to listen to your friends cover your songs - it's memory that will stay with me always.

07.12.07 | Speechless ...
For those of you who know me, "speechless" is a word rarely used to describe me.

However, for those of you kind enough to lend your support to local musicians like myself, and come out to our "all male revue" at Beale St. Cafe last night, I am without words....

Just wanted to let you know who you are:

Kathy and Laurie, KJ, Jen, Luna, Mark (for crashing...welcome), Jimmy, Joanne, Collin, Pete Dang, Steve-O-Miller, Deirdre, Emily, Leanne, "Bulldog" Dave, Todd, Shannon, Michael Parenti, Jessica, Biovo, Mark Underwood, Adam Balbo, Kevnn 4 (for all your help, dude), My roommate, Stuart, Mia, Tony, for the love and cocktails, Miriam (for making the whole night possible), La-ni, Ronnie Cato (for your excellent performance), JJ Schultz (and his choir), Fancy Dan, Mike Skipper, Michael Loebs, Dave "Diesel" Gursom, Andy Mason,
Also, the Spirit of Not an Airplane...

You have all done so much for each other, I'm just proud to be a part...

And a very special thank you to Klaus and Bridget, for your relentless support and inspiration...we'll never forget it.

To any one I have missed, remember, I'm your fan as well...
